Oh Snap!

It kinda just hit me that…IT’S MY FINAL YEAR IN HIGH SCHOOL! Currently planning my year, putting assessments and holidays into my g-cal, and then it came to year 12 graduation…

I wonder what God has install for me this year. I’m actually still very overwhelmed at the fact that it is 2010, and it means my last year of high school (something that i have long waited for but at the same time, something that i’m not looking forward to). Feeling a whole load of emotions right now :(

It’s funny how i have never been in one school for long. In my primary years, i have moved from schools to boarding school in China and then back to moving schools in Australia. And then in my high school years i have moved from one to the next. It’s always on my mind whether i will cry at my year 12 grad because of my friendships, but then i think ‘ive really only known these people fro two years.’

I am still fumbling through my way of life and by God’s grace, i will make it through and give my final year of high school my best shot; whether it’s with family, friends, studies or my walk with God.

p.s what’s with this weather?!

These were our one word (ok, for some it was more) that we, Voltage Senior, used to describe this year. A year which God brought us through as individuals and as a group. It has been a BIG year! Yesterday, bec organised a small gathering where we all re-bonded through games, eating and sharing. It was really amazing to hear each person’s story. We all answered two questions; ‘What has God brought you through this year’ and ‘How will you use it for next year’ and one word to sum it all up. It was so good to hear everyone’s story and i was so touched by the stories of life transformation. We acknowledge that it is our last year next year, and we need to lift up our games to make a lasting impact in our schools. We are all fearful, we are all nervous, we are all excited, we are feeling anxious, but whatever it is that we are feeling, we all know that God is with us! We have been prophesied over, we have been told that we are the golden generation, we know that we are the golden generation and now we need to prep ourselves in being who God has called us to be and i really can’t wait for next year! Final year of high school…HERE WE COME!!

ARGHHHH! I’m so frustrated! I am currently listening to a conversation between a woman and my dad and they keep talking about these rituals that HAS to be done so that my dad’s upcoming restaurant will prosper and be blessed. It frustrates me that i am not saying anything. It frustrates me that they HAVE to burn incense to this god at this time and this other god/idol at another time. It frustrates me that they believe in stuff like that. It frustrates me that the devil is able to lie and manipulate their thoughts. It frustrates me that all of this ritual stuff is closely related to chinese tradtion which makes them think what they are doing is right and correct. It frustrates me that all of it sounds bogus!

Why is it that they have to live their lives according to do’s and don’ts and feng shui stuff that dictates how things are positioned according to the wind and water? Why is it that they live their lives based on these lies?! Why will someone fall sick just because you don’t worship the idol in a specific way? Where does all this stuff even come from? I can’t help but to think where is the freedom in all of this? Why is it that they have to live in fear and insecurity and maybe if they forget to worship the idol today, they will not live tomorrow? This really frustrates me! Jesus died on the cross for the world because He wanted us to live freely and not be bound to rules, rituals and traditions.

Why can’t i just simply interrupt the conversation with the message from Jesus?

I am frustrated and gutless.

I am done! like fully tabouli done! I have finished my exams and i am sooooooooooooooooo tired! I had my last exm today and then i went to Grill’d at Southbank with friends to c-e-l-e-b-r-a-t-e!

I honestly thought it was impossible for me to get through these exams, i had two killer exams on the first day and i just didn’t think i would make it past that day. (O, you of little faith!) But kudos to Jesus for bringing this faithless child through her exams. It’s funny now as i reflect the prays and ‘vows’ i made before Jesus (which kinda erm didn’t last for long) that i will cling on to Him no matter how tough it gets during exam season. Pre-exam period, i pictured myself taking time out during my study time to read over the Bible, pray and cry out to Jesus, man but it’s really hard to put it all into action. I mean, yeh, there were times when i really wanted to just take time out, but because i was sooo consumed in my studies i made an excuse that i was short of time. Like think up of a new excuse already! I have learnt that faith really plays an important part in all of this. Faith is needed in those prayers that i made, faith is needed when i feel like i can’t go any further, faith is needed when i am doubting myself, faith is needed when i am doubting God, faith is needed to know that i am forgiven and Jesus wants me to live joyfully and not submerged in guilt and regret. I really thank God for His grace, it is truly by His grace that i am here, and no matter how cliche that sounds, it’s sooooo true!

No matter how much i pray and play out scenarios in my head, i will continue learning because things don’t work my way but God’s way.

I am patiently waiting for holidays, yes just 3 more days! Don’t have any special plans yet, i was planning a trip to to see my homies in Sydney, but dad’s restaurant is opening and i have a feeling i will be bound to that place for the holidays. booooooo! But none the less, i am looking forward to sleep and more sleep and restarting my body clock, which i completely screwed up during exams.

I’m so sick of being the ‘good kid’ in the family. I especially hate it when my parents compare me, the ‘good kid’, with my brother. I seriously get annoyed because i know my brother probably hates it as well. When my parents say stuff to my bro like ‘Rachel thinks this and Rachel does that’ i just wish i could curl up into a ball. I mean it’s an opportunity to feel proud and on top of my bro, but really i feel like a the worse kid ever. I really am no good kid, i don’t study, i skip school to do assignments, i don’t do homework, i have crappy mood swings, i am selfish, i am boastful, i’m pretty sure my parents see all of this but why is it when they go bananas at my bro, they say i’m the ‘good kid’? Man i feel guilty, and i just feel like telling them that i’m no good kid, and my brother isn’t the bad kid. I don’t like sibling rivalry anymore, it’s stupid and pointless. All i want is to get along with my brother, get to know him, and love him like God has commanded me to.

And no, i’m not going to be a bad kid and a rebel against my parents. I just don’t want my parents to compare my bro and i anymore, it probably makes him feel worse about himself, and it doesn’t do anything but cause unwanted damage to our relationship. *bigfatgish* It’s times like this that makes me want to stand in front of a mirror (not literally) and check my motives. Jesus..help me!
